The Glenforres distillery, founded in 1825 and later renamed Edradour in 1837, boasts a fine and well-developed profile. The cuivrée appearance precedes a full, concentrated palate with nutty notes, toffee, and spices evolving into malted barley and chocolate drops refreshed with mint leaves. The delicately liquorice attack transitions to a fruity blend of apricot, mango, and orange, followed by soft chocolatey and infused (thyme, tea) notes. The long, smooth overall experience culminates in a powdery finish of rice and cocoa, revealing a silky, rich texture. Tertiary tones of mushroom and chestnut emerge, with noble spices like cardamom and saffron punctuating a serene tasting journey. Acquired by Andrew Symington in 2002, Edradour's classicism beautifully captures its trademark style, delivering a journey from malty exuberance to autumnal warmth.
