Established in 1881 during the Scottish whisky boom, Bunnahabhain resides on the northeast coast of the Isle of Islay. The distillery boasts a stillhouse featuring two impressive pear-shaped stills, yielding a robust spirit with typically low levels of peat. Acquired by the Burn Stewart Distillers group in May 2003, Bunnahabhain, traditionally known for its less peated whiskies, has recently expanded its range to include notably peaty and smoky expressions, often released through independent bottlers. This diversification adds a new dimension to the distillery's portfolio, showcasing a range of flavors to suit varying preferences among whisky enthusiasts.
