Ichiro Akuto, formerly of Hanyu distillery and now distiller at Chichibu, presents a legendary whisky, a blend from extensive stocks featuring mizunara, fragrant Japanese oak. Mizunara, exceptionally rare and limited, imparts a refined, incense-like quality. The nose reveals freshly sliced apple, plum, sweet honey, and hints of incense and sandalwood. The palate offers fruity sweetness of apples and oranges, intertwining with fragrant woodiness, grapefruit, and white pepper for a refreshing experience. The medium-length finish showcases vanilla, caramel, and white pepper spice. Overall, a rare and aromatic whisky with distinctive Japanese oak influence.
