This year, Port Askaig introduces a unique Caol Ila whisky, created by blending three American hogshead casks from 2012 with a new oak cask from 2010. Named Port Askaig Nouvelle Vague, it's an exclusive experiment by Oliver Chilton, the master blender at Elixir Distillers, drawing inspiration from the 1960s French cinema movement. This release is distinct due to the use of the new oak cask, resulting in an exceptionally rich and indulgent profile, a departure from the typical Port Askaig style. Nose: Peaty and fresh, with gentle smoke and hints of dry hay and freshly cut grass.Palate: Indulgent and smooth, offering flavors of 90% dark cocoa chocolate, burnt wood, and caramel. Finish: Long and smoky, with slight bitterness from licorice, a touch of menthol, and hints of vanilla.
