Originally introduced in 2010 by the prestigious London wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd, Glenrothes single malt returned to its owner, the Edrington Group—also home to The Macallan and Highland Park—in 2017.

This bottling belongs to La Maison du Whisky’s celebrated “Plume” collection, dedicated to whiskies matured in sherry casks, and is remarkable for its layered complexity.

Colour: Coppery orange.

Nose: Deep and powerful, opening with dark chocolate, licorice, candied apricot, and dried nuts (chestnut, walnut). It gradually unfolds towards richer notes of orange and quince jam, honeyed linden, and even a subtle medicinal touch reminiscent of Tiger Balm.

Palate: Vibrant and elegant, seamlessly continuing from the nose. Flavours of toffee, raisin bread, and carrot cake bring indulgence, before blossoming into floral notes of orange blossom, geranium, and iris concrete.

Finish: Long and gently tannic, with a delicate mineral nuance of slate. The profile turns more autumnal, revealing vanilla, mushroom, moss, and praline (gianduja). Spices such as cardamom and clove add depth, while exotic hints of persimmon and mango linger in the retro-olfaction.
