Laphroaig, with a name meaning 'the beautiful hollow by the broad bay' in Gaelic, has been producing exceptional whisky since its establishment in 1815. Situated in a bay sheltered by rocky islands, the distillery benefits from the warm seas of the Gulf Stream for maturation. The water source, Kilbride Dam on Islay, adds to the unique character. Laphroaig's malted barley is dried over Islay peat, contributing to its rich flavor. The whisky is noted for toffee, cigarillo smoke, and herbal aromas, followed by a palate combining smoke with dried figs and crispy bacon, and a finish marked by persistent smoke and a hint of orange chocolate.
